Meet Letina
Letina (Tina) Brady Pettis, a native of Chicago’s South Side, grew up inspired by the community leadership of her father and family members who advocated for voting rights. Their role in shaping community perspectives instilled in Tina a deep commitment to public service.
Driven by this legacy, Tina founded “Get Out the Vote (GOTV) 4 Teens” and “National Teens Voter Registration Day”. She is also the author of “I Want to Vote” and “I Voted” and the creator of Tricee’s Voting Journey. This series empowers and encourages youth to see themselves as future leaders and voters and understand the importance of their voices.

“After reading I Want to Vote and I Voted to my son, I reread the books myself. Tricee’s Voting Journey is shaping the future of how children learn about the democratic process and making their voices heard. The books emphasize that you don’t have to wait until you’re 18 to make a difference—you can impact your community at a young age, as long as you have the will to serve..”

“I Want to Vote” by Letina Brady Pettis is such a joyful and inspiring read! It’s the perfect way to introduce kids to the power of their voice and the importance of being involved, even at a young age. The main character is confident, curious, and full of energy—just like the future leaders we’re raising. A beautiful reminder that it’s never too early to care about your community.”
